"Can You Call Us Back?"

"Can You Call Us Back?"

This poem was written at my one of previous jobs, about the struggles of following up with busy customers to support their medical imaging instrument, and their seeming inability to prioritize. They would call constantly, needing service urgently, but be unable or unwilling to actually make time for us, even for a phone call.

Alternative Titles: "Progress Bar Opera" or "Honey, I Broke the Instrument"

thank goodness you called,
it's been far too long,
a whole half an hour
since something went wrong.

these issues all started
with text on the screen,
there's no connection,
whatever that means.

I restarted the tower,
I unplugged the cords,
but nothing I've done
has fixed it of course.

the Windows 10 upgrade
must have been a factor,
I know what I'm saying,
I'm I.T. and the doctor.

I looked for the software,
whatever it's called,
the icon is missing,
but it wasn't my fault.

the pictures are fuzzy,
the tablet's gone black,
but we don't have time now,
can you call us back?
